So What Was the Buzz?
November 15, 2006
Oracle OpenWorld
was so big that there was literally something for everybody. But we talked to
IOUG president Ari Kaplan, leaders
of other Oracle-oriented user groups, end users, consultants, systems
integrators and others in the community to hear what they were interested in.
The temperature has started to rise for Oracle 11g. Interesting new features
include hot patching, an audit vault for compliance, new approaches to
encryption, pumped up data compression and more focus on security up and down
the technology. Moreover, DBAs are getting more
involved in enterprise and information architecture. Of course, the best place
to learn more about what your colleagues make of these developments will be at
COLLABORATE 07 in Las Vegas
this April. In the October issue of Database Trends and Applications magazine,
we interviewed Oracle vice president Rick Schultz who explains more about
Oracle's Fusion middleware efforts. To access it, go here.
